The Timothy C. McWilliams, Jr. Foundation is dedicated to helping victims of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), where there remains consistent and significant need. We continually develop vital relationships and resources, both locally and nationally, to give us direct access to victims, families and the best TBI facilities that can benefit most from our help.
Through various activities and our annual fundraiser, Toasting Timbo 4, we were able to raise a total of $263,000 in 2008. These funds have been set aside so that at least 95% will be donated towards long term programs that our Giving Committee researches and our Board of Trustees approves.
In 2006 and 2007, we gave away a total of $364,000 to various facilities and programs working to address TBI. From 2008 funds, we have already allocated over 60% of the $263,000 restricted funds raised, all of which will be eventually allocated to worthy programs. Below is further information on how that 60% of 2008 funds will be used to help those with TBI; we will update the site once we have allocated the remaining 40%:
Timbo at Home is our small grants program that provides assistance to individual patients and families for needs not covered by traditional institutions, insurance companies or health care providers. These small grants are awarded to qualified individuals who, as a result of TBI, have immediate and specific needs that exceed their means.
In 2008, Timbo at Home helped more than 20 families, bringing us to 36 families helped to date.

The foundation offers large grant support to advanced rehabilitation organizations that treat patients and their families as they heal from the debilitating effects of TBI. The foundation works closely with advanced and respected TBI rehabilitation centers like Casa Colina in Pomona, CA and JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ.

Since our founding in 2005, we have supported a few local NJ causes that we thought Timbo would have wanted us to support. In his spirit, we will continue to fund these programs on a small scale. We presently provide four $10,000 four-year scholarships to West Essex High School graduates, subsidize travel for seven injured NJ veterans participating in the National Wheelchair Games and sponsor the training of a Seeing Eye puppy that will provide aid and companionship to a blind person.
